Stream of consciousness

What I did

  • Shaping up an upcoming TheyDo PoC with a banking client

  • Building out a gov.uk flow for a redesigned service

  • Informal commercial and sales training sessions

  • Experimenting with Figma Make

  • Playing with Base44

Prioritisation

We do a lot of this at work, yet lately I’ve been feeling a bit out of sync in my personal life. This looks like investing a lot of time and energy on work, and leaving very little for my own hobbies. Something I’ve found to be helpful has been going to the office more. This draws a line between my home vs work. Also the 30 minute walk home to clear my head.

Routine

Since finishing my Masters, my Sundays have also been a bit directionless. Fighting the scaries, mentally wrestling the thought of ‘I have a whole day to be productive’, and then losing to fatigue. My weeknotes haven’t been nearly as inspiring to do. Even my sister noticed its absence, and mentioned that she could sense how excited I used to be when reading my words. That’s 90% of the reason why I’m writing again (10% as a stream of consciousness).

Automation

AI has massively accelerated the way I work, but also in my personal life and admin. Here are some fun use cases I’ve been loving:

  • Auditing my skincare collection. I fed GPT all my products, and asked it to tell me what I’m missing and what I need. I haven’t noticed a significant improvement in my skin yet, but it’s been useful to validate my shopping decisions.

  • Generating games for dates. Mostly for trivia rounds, but any random games could work.

  • Health and fitness coaching. For feeding blood test results, generating rehabilitation plans, even ideas for low-impact cardio that fits my routine.

  • Financial advice. When I have tricky and nuanced questions that Reddit can’t give me straightforward answers for. Or general literacy help.
