Fear vs excitement

I’m kicking the writing habit again, because she’s finally done with her thesis! 81 weekends later (plus 4 months of an extra Monday), it still feels surreal to know that I poured this much energy into a self-initiated project. I’m really looking forward to having my 2 days off a week, and there’s a long list of things I want to do, learn, read and visit.

This week

  • Submitted my thesis

  • Walked through and validated a few customer journeys

  • Thought about CX metrics, a lot

  • Enjoyed a few catchups in the sun

  • Had an exciting discussion about a CX opportunity for a B2B provider

Saying ‘yes’ more

I listened to a podcast one morning about tricking the brain into thinking fear = excitement. This sort of self-mantra works because the part of our brain that processes fear is the same that feels excitement. Then in the same day, I ended up agreeing to 3 scary opportunities that I probably would’ve shy-ed away from otherwise.

Learning about journey management

I’ve been using TheyDo for a while, building out 5 priority journeys for a public-facing service. The learning curve has been less technical, more upsell. The transition from mapping to ‘managing’ still feels new to me, like going from pixel pushing to informing strategy. I’d love the opportunity to leverage some sort of dashboard view of a single journey, and see this tool at its full potential.

Taking a pause

In the meantime, lots of rest.
